Hi all!
Well, I ventured out of my comfort level thanks to the new rule that we had to try a different genre each month. February was a mystery and (although I am just now finishing the book half way through March) I must say, I REALLY enjoyed White Lies by Anna Salter. Maybe it is my psychology/social work background that made it more intriguing or maybe I just really love mysteries at heart and didn't know it till now!
The main character, Dr. Micheal Stone (actually a fiesty female) is asked to evaluate a doctor who may be performing lewd sexual acts on patients while they are under anasthesia or in comas. At the same time, she is helping a colleague to deal with a pateint who just realized her father sexually abused her throughout childhood. These keep her busy, until someone tries to kill her...then the plot thickens - obviously. But I liked how it was pretty fast moving from the get-go and not so predictable that I figured it out way before the ending. On the down side (and those that know me well know this is a very big down side) there was only one very small sex scene. I guess with all of that perpetrator stuff going on, it would have been hard to put appropriate and NORMAL sex scenes in there! But, for once, I didn't really mind!
(Gosh, I hope me not caring if there is sex in books does not become a pattern!)
