I did it.

I broke down and read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Brandon said he respects me a little less because I read it, and he is a book snob. I'm a book snob too, but Ihave to admit that I enjoyed the book. And I only read it because I found someone who would lend it to me.

I can see where the complaints come from. Like Bella makes girls look like minidless retards obsessed with boys, and that the vampires are lame, and that the story is just dumb, but I think it really hits on how you feel when you have that first love and all you can think about is that person. And what its like to obsess over a person. I'm afraid to see the movie now because I don't think movie Edward will live up to my imagined book Edward.

I do feel a bit weird about liking it. Like it's a guilty pleasure. Maybe my expectations were just too low going in. I was really expecting the book to suck. And, being the DBC member that I am, I was pretty disappointed in the lack of sex.

So this weekend I'm going to go incognito to buy the rest of the series from my local bookstore. Does anyone have a wig I can borrow?

No offense, but I dont think you can be a book snob and like some of the stuff that you and I both like. We aren't exactly reading classic liturature here :) and I say that with the most respect possible.

If you thought that one was bad, I just can't read any more of them after the next one. I want Bella to wake up and realize what a loser she's got for herself. After reading "New Moon" I liked "Twilight" alot less. I don't even want to see the movie. Sookie is was better. I even like Anita Blake more!

Okay, I must say my curiosity has been peeked. I too shall have to read this "Twilight" to see if it is up to snuff.

Don't be so hard on yourself. We've all read stuff... or seen movies... that we are ashamed of. Did I tell you about the Professor who didn't want to admit to me that she was reading the book? So keep in mind - you are not alone in being an adult reading these books. As you say, someone had to loan it to you.

And I actually have two different wigs you could borrow. Or a few big hats. Let me know...
