Everybody Hurts: An Essential Guide to Emo Culture

If only this were required reading for that Culture class I took in college. That totally would've raised my already stellar GPA. I borrowed this from Robin last week. While perusing her diversified bookshelves it caught my eye. It's pretty funny, mostly because it's kinda making fun of itself. But it made me feel old. So, I downloaded a lot of the bands it references, like Dashboard Confessional, Fall Out Boy, Death Cab for Cutie, Panic! at the Disco...and some of it's ok listening. It can be a bit depressing, and is reminiscent of my high school years, and of feeling weird and different all the time, but hey that's like the definition of being emo. I've decided that I'm a cross between emo and geek (geekmo?). Unlike true emoites, I just don't put forth that much effort. Borrow this from Robin. It is good.

Dude, we have tons of the music from that book so let me know if you really like some of it and i'll see if we have it. That's the stuff that got me though college.

Okay, I may be showing my age and/or ignorance here... but what is emo?
