The Scent of Night--My last book of the year, probably.

This is the second in The Zodiac series about a chick with superhero-like powers that fights against bad guys called Shadows, who happen to be led by her father. When I'm reading the books I imagine them to be like gritty crimefighter dramas on tv. The only thing that bugs me is the Las Vegas setting. Maybe I've read too many books set in Vegas. If you're interested in a series about a chick who can kick ass, but usually has her own ass kicked in the process, then these are right up your alley.
