Delilah Street: Paranormal Investigator

This book was surprisingly good. It felt like watching a tv show. It was really long (394 pages) but it flew by because there was so much action and the chapters were short. The writing style is really different from other books. It's all from Delilah's perspective, but a lot of stuff feels dreamy, or like poetry. I mean in the way that it's really descriptive but it's not always clear what's going on. The plot involves werewolves, vampires,zombies, and ghouls. Standard paranormal stuff. And there is some sex. I would recommend this to anyone in book club.

She hasn't disappointed me yet. Granted, I've only read three of her books, but damn they were good. If you want to read a paranormal romance that has everything a good romance should have, read one of her books from the Immortals After Dark Series. I finished the 2nd earlier this week. You don't have to read them in any kind of order (although its nice to do so). I think what I like best about her stories is the tension between the main characters cause it makes for great sex scenes. And each book involves different paranormal characters. So you have werewolves, vampires, valkyries and demons to choose from. I let Robin borrow the first in the series at last nights bookclub but if anyone else is interested I have two others available, but I think they are worth paying the $7 for.

Howling at the Moon

This one wasn't so good, so I don't feel like I should say much about it because I wouldn't recommend it. It had me interested, but nothing exciting or revealing really happened. And the main character, Sophie, does nothing but whine about being a werewolf. Books like these are tricky though. I've often found that the first book in a series is never as good as the second. It must have something to do with character development or something. So I'm always tempted to read the second in a series even if he first wasn't very good. Does anyone else find this to be true?

Night Life by Caitlin Kittridge

I've been in a reading slump lately, but for a good reason, I think. I've actually had things to do and people to hang out with so that's cut into my reading time.

This book felt like it took me forever to finish, but it picked up about halfway through and I really wanted to find out what happened. It's about a werewolf detective named Luna Wilder. She's a lone wolf and quite the bitch. She has to solve a series of murders and come to terms with her werewolf status and flirt with the hunky, motorcycle riding, alpha werewolf that helps her solve the murders. I think this is the first in a series of two (so far). If I ever get through my reading list I might give the next one a try, just to find out what happens to all of the characters.

Best of Both Worlds

What do you get when you cross a totally hot modern day Highlander with a male Werewolf? The hottest book that I've read in a long time! Okay, for those who didn't know, I've been in a book slump. Nothing did it for me. It was like going through some freaky literary dry spell...but the guy in this book brought me back. This book has good sex, witty dialogue, a nasty bad guy, AND if that isn't enough the heroine owns a bookstore dedicated to romance novels. HELLO! What's not to like?! Plus, the story begins on her bookclub night. I mean we are talking cream of the crop, Ladies! The best had to be the fact that I didn't have to wait halfway through the book for the lovebirds to get together, in fact it happens right away (sort of). I mean he can't leave her side because he has to protect her. Why you ask? Well I guess you just have to read and find out.

Stray by Rachel Vincent

This has an interesting story, but the main character is whiny and annoying in parts. And I didn't realize it when I bought it, but its freakin 618 pages. So it took me awhile to get through it, but it was interesting. It's not a romance, just paranormal fiction (though there are some sex scenes and a lot of nudity). It's about werecats. Overall I'd say it was ok. It has a lot of violence and stuff, like kidnapping psycho murderers. It kinda felt like it would be a better movie. I cant decide if I want to pick up the sequel (especially if it gonna be 600 pages).

kitty and the silver bullet

This is part of a series about a werewolf named Kitty who hosts an Art Bell-like radio talk show. She talks about paranormal stuff. This usually leads to trouble. I like how Kitty has progressed from the first book. She's gone from a whining, whimpering pup to a strong dominant female alpha of her own pack. The story is good. It's mostly about werewolves, but this one had its fair share of sex too, if that's what you're looking for. I would recommend the series because it's light and fun, but also serious and there's some ass-kicking too.

I've been busy, busy reading, that is.

#1- Kitty Takes a Holiday by Carrie Vaughn. I'm really growing to like this series. This is the third book in the series and it was great. Kitty is a werewolf with her own radio talk show called The Midnight Hour. She takes calls from vampires, werewolves, withces, things like that. In this one she's taken some time off to write her memoirs but she runs into a few problems. A friend of hers is bitten by a werewolf, she is cursed by some locals, and another friend is charged with murder. I think a lot of book club gals would like this series. The first book wasn't the best but the second and third were much better. I have the first three if anyone wants to give 'em a try.

#2-Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I didn't enjoy this one very much. It follows the same formula as any of Kenyons other Dark Hunter/Dream Hunter novels, so I kinda figured out what was goind to happen. The only thing that kept me reading was that Acheron was in the story. He made it better. This was just a little taste of the Dark Hunter/Dream Chaser world to tide fans over until Acherons book come out this summer. At least that's how I felt. Also, not very much sex, especially compared to some of the other books.
